SURAH (38) SAD (AYA 61 to 88)

قَالُوا رَبَّنَا مَنْ قَدَّمَ لَنَا هَٰذَا فَزِدْهُ عَذَابًا ضِعْفًا فِي النَّارِ {38:61}
[Q38:61] Qaaloo Rabbanaa man qaddama lanaa haaza fazidhu 'azaaban di'fan fin Naar
[Q38:61] They shall say: Our Lord! Whoever prepared it first for us, add Thou to him a double chastisement in the fire.
[Q38:61] Mereka berkata lagi: Wahai Tuhan kami! Sesiapa yang membawa azab ini kepada kami, maka tambahilah dia azab seksa berlipat ganda di dalam Neraka.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:61) They will say: “Our Lord, give twofold punishment in the Fire to him who has led us to this.”

وَقَالُوا مَا لَنَا لَا نَرَىٰ رِجَالًا كُنَّا نَعُدُّهُمْ مِنَ الْأَشْرَارِ {38:62}
[Q38:62] Wa qaaloo ma lanaa laa naraa rijaalan kunnaa na'udduhum minal ashraar.
[Q38:62] And they shall say: What is the matter with us that we do not see men whom we used to count among the vicious?
[Q38:62] Dan penduduk Neraka itu tetap akan bertanya sesama sendiri: Mengapa kita tidak melihat orang-orang yang dahulu kita kirakan mereka sebagai orang-orang jahat (lagi hina)?
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:62) They will say to one another: “But why do we not see those whom we considered him among the wicked? *55
*55 This implies the believers whom the disbelievers used to look down upon as bad people in the world. It means: They will look around bewildered and will find only themselves and their guides in Hell but will find no trace of those people of whom they used to talk disparagingly in the world, and whom they used to mock in their meetings for talking about God, the Messenger and the Hereafter.

أَتَّخَذْنَاهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا أَمْ زَاغَتْ عَنْهُمُ الْأَبْصَارُ {38:63}
[Q38:63] Attakhaznaahum sikh riyyan am zaaghat 'anhumul absaar.
[Q38:63] Was it that we (only) took them in scorn, or have our eyes (now) turned aside from them?
[Q38:63] Adakah kita sahaja jadikan mereka ejek-ejekan (sedang mereka orang-orang yang benar)? Atau mata kita tidak dapat melihat mereka?
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:63) Is it that we mistakenly made fun of them; or have they disappeared from our sight?”

إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَحَقٌّ تَخَاصُمُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ {38:64}
[Q38:64] Inna zaalika lahaqqun takhaasumu Ahlin Naar.
[Q38:64] That most surely is the truth: the contending one with another of the inmates of the fire.
[Q38:64] Sesungguhnya (segala yang diterangkan) itu adalah benar iaitu perbalahan dan cercaan penduduk Neraka sesama sendiri.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:64) Verily all this is true. This is how the inmates of the Fire will dispute among themselves.

SECTION 5
The Great Tiding
The Holy Prophet Muhammad is a Warner to Mankind---There is no ALLAH (SWT) but the Only True ALLAH (SWT), the Almighty---The Great Tiding---Man’s creation and Iblis’ refusal to pay obeisance to Man---Iblis cursed and outcasted but respited---Iblis and his followers shall enter Hell.

قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا مُنْذِرٌ ۖ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْوَاحِدُ الْقَهَّارُ {38:65}
[Q38:65] Qul innamaaa ana munzirunw wa maa min ilaahim illaL Laahul Waahidul Qahhaar,
[Q38:65] Say: I am only a warner, and there is no god but ALLAH (SWT), the One, the Subduer (of all):
[Q38:65] Katakanlah (wahai Muhammad): Sesungguhnya aku hanyalah seorang Rasul pemberi amaran dan tidak ada sama sekali tuhan yang sebenar melainkan ALLAH (SwT) Yang Maha Esa, lagi Yang kekuasaanNya mengatasi segala-galanya,
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:65) Tell them, (O Prophet): *56 “I am nothing but a warner. *57 There is no deity but Allah, the One, the Supreme,
*56 Now the discourse turns to the same theme with which it began. One should read it with vv. 1-14 in order to understand the meaning fully.
*57 In verse 4 it was said: "The people wonder that a warner from among themselves has come to them." Here it is being said: "Tell them: I am only a warner.' That is, "I do not command an army that I may forcibly pull you from a wrong way and put you on the Right Way: If you do not listen to me and do not accept my message, you will only be causing a loss to yourselves. If you like to remain ignorant, you may continue to be heedless, for you will sec your end yourselves."

رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفَّارُ {38:66}
[Q38:66] Rabbus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumal 'Azeezul Gaffaar
[Q38:66] The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, the Mighty, the most Forgiving.
[Q38:66] Tuhan (yang mencipta serta mentadbirkan) langit dan bumi dan segala yang ada di antara keduanya; Yang Maha Kuasa, lagi Yang sentiasa Mengampuni (dosa hamba-hambaNya).
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:66) the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is in between them, the Most Mighty, the Most Forgiving.”

قُلْ هُوَ نَبَأٌ عَظِيمٌ {38:67}
[Q38:67] Qul huwa naba'un 'Azeem
[Q38:67] Say: It is a message of importance,
[Q38:67] Katakanlah lagi: Apa yang aku terangkan itu (tentang keesaan ALLAH (SwT) dan kebenaran kerasulanku) adalah berita penting yang amat besar (faedahnya).

ACCORDING TO THE AHLUL BAYT VICE-REGENCY (IMAMAH) IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE DIVINE MESSAGE. Verse 78:3 of an Naba confirms it. This was an issue among the angels in verse 2:30 of al Baqarah. Again it has been described as a message of great importance in verse 67 of this surah, from which man turns away as said in verse 68 of this surah; and verse 69 of this surah again refers to verse 2:30 of al Baqarah.
·         For the vice-regency (imamah) ALLAH (SWT) selects and appoints His own chosen representatives on the earth. THE   SELECTION IS NOT ARBITRARY. ONLY THOSE WHO’S SUBMISSION TO HIS WILL IS ABSOLUTE AND UNCONDITIONAL DUE TO WHICH THEY REMAIN IN CONSTANT COMMUNION WITH ALLAH (SWT) ARE CHOSEN. See commentary of al Baqarah 2:124.
THE DOCTRINE OF IMAMAH HAS BEEN REPRESENTED IN THE QUR’AN IN VARIOUS WAYS. Even the angels were not clear about this great message. They first disputed, then submitted to the will of ALLAH (SWT), BUT Shaytan rebelled and was condemned and cursed for ever for not accepting the imamah of the chosen representatives of ALLAH (SWT).
ò  This condition of acceptance and rejection continued in the children of Adam in various forms and manners.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:67) Say: “This is a tiding of tremendous import

أَنْتُمْ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضُونَ {38:68}
[Q38:68] Antum 'anhu mu'ridoun
[Q38:68] (And) you are turning aside from it:
[Q38:68] Yang kamu terus mengingkarinya
(see commentary for verse 67)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:68) from which you are turning away.” *58
*58 This is the answer to what the disbelievers said in verse 5: "Has he made just One God in place of all the gods? This is indeed a strange thing." It means: "You may frown and scowl as you like, but this is a reality of which I am informing you, and your frowning and scowling cannot change it." This answer not only contains the statement of the truth, but it also contains the argument for it. The mushriks said: "Deities are many of whom one is Allah also. How is it that you have done away with all other deities and kept only One Allah?" In answer it was said: "Thc real Deity is One Allah alone, for He is dominant over cverything: He is the Owner of the earth and the heavens, and cverything in the Universe belongs to Him. Every being other than Him, whom you havc set up as other gods in the Universe, is dominated and subdued before Him; therefore, the subservient beings cannot be associates in the Godhead of the Dominant and All-Mighty God. Therefore, there is no ground for which they may be regarded as deities. "

مَا كَانَ لِيَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ بِالْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَىٰ إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُونَ {38:69}
[Q38:69] Maa kaana liya min 'ilmim bilmala il a'laaa iz yakhtasimoon
[Q38:69] I had no knowledge of the exalted chiefs when they contended:
[Q38:69] Tiadalah bagiku sebarang pengetahuan tentang penduduk alam yang tinggi (malaikat), semasa mereka bersoal jawab (mengenai Nabi Adam, kalaulah tidak diwahyukan kepadaku).
(see commentary for verse 67)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:69) (Tell them): “I had no knowledge of the High Council when they were disputing.

إِنْ يُوحَىٰ إِلَيَّ إِلَّا أَنَّمَا أَنَا نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ {38:70}
[Q38:70] Iny-yoohaaa ilaiya illaaa annnamaaa ana nazeerum Mubeen.
[Q38:70] Naught is revealed to me save that I am a plain warner.
[Q38:70] Tiadalah diwahyukan kepadaku melainkan kerana sesungguhnya aku seorang Rasul pemberi amaran yang jelas nyata (bukan seorang pembohong atau ahli sihir atau gila).
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:70) I am told (about matters) by means of revelation only because I am a clear warner.”

إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِنْ طِينٍ {38:71}
[Q38:71] Iz qaala Rabbuka lilmalaaa'ikati innee khaaliqum basharam min teen
[Q38:71] When your Lord said to the angels; Surely I am going to create a mortal from dust:
[Q38:71] (Ingatkanlah peristiwa) ketika Tuhanmu berfirman kepada malaikat: Sesungguhnya Aku hendak menciptakan manusia, Adam dari tanah;

ä  Refer to the commentary of al Baqarah 2:30 to 38; Araf 7:11 to 18 and Hijr 15:28 to 43.
Taswiya and its derivatives are used in the Qur’an for Adam and for the HOLY PROPHET (ALLAHuma sali ala Muhammad wa ala ali Muhammad) and other prophets. This refers to a very high state of realization by the cognitive self which enables to have an appropriate view of all things; and Adam was honoured with this quality. The angels' view was one sided. Refer to Hijr 15:29.
THERE ARE TWO REALMS, PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL, AZ ZAHIR (THE MANIFEST) AND AL BATIN (THE HIDDEN), AND BOTH ARE THE MANIFESTATION OF ALLAH (SWT)'S NAME.
Shaytan was proud of the power of fire, he was made of, and despised the infinite power of recipiency of clay from which Adam was made.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:71) When your Lord said to the angels: *59 “Verily I am creating a human being from clay. *60
*59 This is the explanation of the dispute referred to about, and the dispute implies Satan's dispute with God, as becomes evident from the verses that follow. In this regard, one should bear in mind the fact that "the exalted ones" implies the angels, and the dialogue between Allah and Satan was not direct but it took place through some angel. Therefore, no one should havc the misunderstanding that Allah also was included among the exalted ones. This story has already been narrated at the following places about: Al-Baqarah: 30-39, AI-A'raf: 11-25, Al-Hijr: 26-44, Bani Isra'il: 61-65, Al-Kahf: 50, Ta Ha: 116-126.
*60 Lexically, bashar means a gross body whose surface is bare and uncovered by anything else. After the creation of man this word has been used for man himself, but mentioning him by the word bashar before his creation and making him from clay clearly means: "I am about to make an image of clay, which will be without any feathers and hair, etc., whose skin will not be covered by wool or hair or feathers like the skin of other animals.

فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِنْ رُوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ {38:72}
[Q38:72] Fa-iza sawwaituhoo wa nafakhtu feehi mir roohee faqa'oo lahoo saajideen.
[Q38:72] So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, then fall down making obeisance to him.
[Q38:72] Kemudian apabila Aku sempurnakan kejadiannya, serta Aku tiupkan padanya roh dari (ciptaanKu) maka hendaklah kamu sujud kepadanya.
(see commentary for verse 71)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:72) After I have created him and breathed into him of My spirit, *61 fall you down, prostrating yourselves to him.” *62
*61 For explanation, see Al-Hijr: 29-30, and E.N. 16 of Surah As-Sajdah.
*62 For explanation, sec AI-Baqarah: 34, Al-A'raf :11 and the E.N.'s thereof.

فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ {38:73}
[Q38:73] Fasajadal malaaa'ikatu kulluhum ajma'oon;
[Q38:73] And the angels did obeisance, all of them,
[Q38:73] (Setelah selesai kejadian Adam) maka sujudlah sekalian malaikat, semuanya sekali,
(see commentary for verse 71)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:73) Then the angels, all of them, prostrated themselves before Adam

إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ اسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ {38:74}
[Q38:74] illaaa Iblees; istakbara wa kaana minal kaafireen
[Q38:74] But not Iblis: he was proud and he was one of the unbelievers.
[Q38:74] Melainkan Iblis; dia berlaku sombong takbur (mengingkarinya) serta menjadilah dia dari golongan yang kafir.
(see commentary for verse 71)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:74) except Iblis. He waxed proud and became one of the unbelievers. *63
*63 For explanation, see ALBaqarah: 34, AI-Kahf: 50 and the E.N.'s." thereof.

قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَيَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْعَالِينَ {38:75}
[Q38:75] Qaala yaaa Ibleesu maa man'aka an tasjuda limaa khalaqtu biyadai; astakbarta am kunta min 'aaleen.
[Q38:75] He said: O Iblis! What prevented you that you should do obeisance to him whom I created with My two hands? Are you proud or are you of the exalted ones?
[Q38:75] ALLAH (SwT) berfirman: Hai lblis! Apa yang menghalangmu daripada turut sujud kepada (Adam) yang Aku telah ciptakan dengan kekuasaanKu? Adakah engkau berlaku sombong takbur ataupun engkau dari golongan yang tertinggi?
(see commentary for verse 71)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:75) The Lord said: “O Iblis, what prevented you from prostrating yourself before him whom I created of My Two Hands. *64 Are you waxing proud, or fancy yourself to be too exalted?”
*64 These words have been used to point out the honour, rank and glory bestowed on man by his Creator. In other words, Allah did not get man created through his angels but created him Himself because his creation was a highly noble task. Therefore, what is meant to be said is: "What has prevented you from prostrating yourself before him whom I have made directly Myself?" The words "both hands" probably are meant to refer to the fact that this new creation combines in itself two important aspects of Allah's power of creation: (1) That man has been given an animal body on account of which he belongs to the animal kingdom; and (2) that on account of the Spirit breathed into him, he has been characterised with qualities which place him in honour and merit above all earthly creations and creatures.

قَالَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْتَنِي مِنْ نَارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِنْ طِينٍ {38:76}
[Q38:76] Qaala ana khairum minah; khalaqtanee min naarinw wa khalaqtahoo min teen
[Q38:76] He said: I am better than he; Thou hast created me of fire, and him Thou didst create of dust.
[Q38:76] Iblis menjawab: Aku lebih baik daripadanya; Engkau (wahai Tuhanku) ciptakan daku dari api, sedang dia Engkau ciptakan dari tanah.
(see commentary for verse 71)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:76) He replied: “I am nobler than he. You created me from fire and created him from clay.”

قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ {38:77}
[Q38:77] Qaala fakhruj minhaa fainnaka rajeem.
[Q38:77] He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away:
[Q38:77] ALLAH (SwT) berfirman: Kalau demikian, keluarlah engkau daripadanya, kerana sesungguhnya engkau adalah makhluk yang diusir.
(see commentary for verse 71)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:77) He said: “Get out of here; *65 surely you are accursed, *66
*65 "From here": from the place where Adam was created and where the angels were commanded to bow down before Adam, and where Iblis committed disobedience of Allah.
*66 Lexically, the word rajim, as used in the original, means "cast off" or "smitten"; in common usage it is used for the person, who has been thrown down from a place of honour and humiliated. In Surah AI-A`raf, the same thing has been expressed thus: "Get out: you are indeed one of those who wish themselves ignominy." (v. 13).

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ {38:78}
[Q38:78] Wa inna 'alaika la'nateee ilaa Yawmid Deen
[Q38:78] And surely My curse is on you to the day of judgment.
[Q38:78] Dan sesungguhnya engkau ditimpa laknatku terus menerus hingga ke hari kiamat!
(see commentary for verse 71)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:78) and My curse shall remain upon you till the Day of Resurrection.” *67
*67 This does not mean that there will be no curse on him after the Day of Judgment, but rather it means: "He will remain accessed till the Day of Judgment because of his disobedience, and after the Day of Judgment he will be punished for the sins which he will have committed from the creation of Adam till Resurrecton. "

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنْظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ {38:79}
[Q38:79] Qaala Rabbi fa anzirneee ilaa Yawmi yub'asoon
[Q38:79] He said: My Lord! Then respite me to the day that they are raised.
[Q38:79] Iblis berkata: Wahai Tuhanku! Jika demikian, berilah tempoh kepadaku hingga ke hari mereka dibangkitkan (hari kiamat).
(see commentary for verse 71)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:79) Satan said: “My Lord, then grant me respite till the Day that they are raised up.”

قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنْظَرِينَ {38:80}
[Q38:80] Qaala fa innaka minal munzareen
[Q38:80] He said: Surely you are of the respited ones,
[Q38:80] ALLAH (SwT) berfirman: Dengan permohonanmu itu, maka sesungguhnya engkau dari golongan yang diberi tempoh;
(see commentary for verse 71)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:80) He said: “You are of those who have been granted respite

إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ {38:81}
[Q38:81] iIlaa Yawmil waqtil ma'loom.
[Q38:81] Till the period of the time made known.
[Q38:81] Hingga ke hari masa yang termaklum.
(see commentary for verse 71)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:81) till the Day whose Hour I know.”

قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ {38:82}
[Q38:82] Qaala fabi'izzatika la ughwiyannahum ajma‘een
[Q38:82] He said: Then by Thy Might I will surely make them live an evil life, all,
[Q38:82] Iblis berkata: Demi kekuasaanmu (wahai Tuhanku), aku akan menyesatkan mereka semuanya,
(see commentary for verse 71)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:82) (Iblis) said: “By Your glory, I shall mislead them all

إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ {38:83}
[Q38:83] illaa 'ibaadaka minhumul mukhlaseen
[Q38:83] Except Thy servants from among them, the purified ones.
[Q38:83] Kecuali hamba-hambaMu di antara zuriat-zuriat Adam itu yang dibersihkan dari sebarang kederhakaan dan penyelewengan.
(see commentary for verse 71)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:83) except those of Your servants, the chosen ones from amongst them.” *68
*68 This does not mean "I will not lead Your chosen servants astray," but this: "I shall have no power over Yew chosen servants."

قَالَ فَالْحَقُّ وَالْحَقَّ أَقُولُ {8438:}
[Q38:84] Qaala falhaqq, walhaqqa aqool
[Q38:84] He said: The truth then is and the truth do I speak:
[Q38:84] ALLAH (SwT) berfirman: Maka Akulah Tuhan Yang Sebenar-benarnya dan hanya perkara yang benar Aku firmankan
(see commentary for verse 71)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:84) He (i.e. Allah) said: “This is the Truth – and I only speak the Truth –

لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنْكَ وَمِمَّنْ تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ {38:85}
[Q38:85] La amla'annna Jahannama minka wa mimman tabi'aka minhum ajma‘een
[Q38:85] That I will most certainly fill hell with you and with those among them who follow you, all.
[Q38:85] Demi sesungguhnya! Aku akan memenuhi Neraka Jahannam dengan jenismu dan dengan orang-orang yang menurutmu di antara zuriat-zuriat Adam (yang derhaka) semuanya.
(see commentary for verse 71)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:85) I will certainly fill the Gehenna with you *69 and with all those among them who follow you.” *70
*69 "With you" is not only addressed to Iblis but to the whole species of satans; that is, Iblis and his whole army of the satans who will be joining him in misleading mankind till Resurrection.
*70 This whole story has been related in answer to this saying of the chiefs of the Quraish: "Was he the only (fit) person among us to whom Allah's Admonition should have been sent down?" Its first answer was the one given in vv. 9-10, saying: "Are you the owners of the treasures of the mercy of your Mighty and Bounteous Lord? And does the kingdom of the heavens and the earth belongs to you, and is it for you to decide as to who should be appointed God's Prophet and who should not be appointed?" The second answer is: In this the chiefs of the Quraish have been told: °Your jealousy, your pride and arrogance against Muhammad (upon whom be Allah's peace and blessings) are similar to the jealousy and arrogance of Iblis against Adam (peace be upon him). Iblis also had refused to acknowledge the right of Allah to appoint anyone He pleased His vicegerent, and you also are refusing to acknowledge His right to appoint anyone He pleases as His Messenger: he disobeyed the Command to bow down before Adam, and you are disobeying the Command to follow Muhammad (upon whom be Allah's peace). Your resemblance with him does not end here, but your fate also will be the same as has been pre-ordained for him, i.e. the curse of God in the world and the fire of Hell in the Hereafter."
Besides, in connection with this story, two other things also have been stressed:
(1) Whoever is disobeying Allah in this world, is in fact, falling a prey to Iblis, his eternal enemy, who has resolved to mislead and misguide mankind since the beginning of creation; and (2) the one who disobeys Allah on account of arrogance and persists in His disobedience is under His wrath: such a one has no forgiveness from Him.

قُلْ مَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُتَكَلِّفِينَ {38:86}
[Q38:86] Qul maaa as'alukum 'alaihi min ajrinw wa maaa ana minal mutakallifeen
[Q38:86] Say: I do not ask you for any reward for it; nor am I of those who affect:
[Q38:86] Katakanlah (wahai Muhammad): Aku tidak meminta kepada kamu sebarang bayaran kerana menyampaikan ajaran Al-Quran ini dan bukanlah aku dari orang-orang yang mengada-ngada.

According to Shura 42:23 the Holy Prophet (ALLAHuma sali ala Muhammad wa ala ali Muhammad) WAS COMMANDED TO ASK FOR A RECOMPENSE AS AN EXCEPTION TO OTHER PROPHETS. THE REWARD ASKED FOR WAS IN THE INTEREST OF THOSE WHO WANT TO FIND A WAY TO THEIR LORD, as stated in verse 34:47 of Saba and Furqan 25:57.
·         The word "impostor" or "pretender" refers to the objection his followers raised when "love of his Ahlul Bayt" was enjoined on them in Shura 42:23.
Verse 87 refers to the recompense asked for in verse 42:23 of Shura.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
(38:86) (O Prophet), tell them: “I do not ask you for any recompense for the performance of this task; *71 nor am I given to affectation*72
*71 That is, "I am a selfless person: I have no vested interest in preaching this message,"
*72 That is, "I am not one of those who arise with false claims for the sake of vanity and pose to be what actually they are not. " The Holy Prophet has not been made to say this merely for the information of the disbelievers of Makkah but this is testified by his whole life which he lived among the same people for forty years before his advent as a Prophet. Every child of Makkah was a witness that Muhammad (upon whom be Allah's peace) was not an impostor. Never had anybody from among the people of Makkah ever heard anything from him, which might have caused somebody the doubt that he aspired to be a great man and was planning and scheming for that end.

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ {38:87}
[Q38:87] In huwa illaa zikrul lil'aalameen
[Q38:87] It is nothing but a reminder to the nations;
[Q38:87] Al-Quran tidak lain hanyalah peringatan bagi penduduk seluruh alam.

[Q38:88] Wa lata'lamunna naba ahoo ba'da heen.
[Q38:88] And most certainly you will come to know about it after a time.
[Q38:88] Dan demi sesungguhnya, kamu akan mengetahui kebenaran perkara-perkara yang diterangkannya, tidak lama lagi.
